Short biography
Annalena Dunkel, M.A. studied educational science with a special education focus and Protestant theology at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz from 2011 to 2014 and sports and movement gerontology at the German Sport University in Cologne from 2014 to 2017. Already during her master’s thesis entitled: “Possible uses of the everyday fitness test for the possible determination of sarcopenia”, she put her focus on age-associated diseases. During her master’s degree, Ms. Dunkel worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Movement Therapy and Movement-Oriented Prevention and Rehabilitation under the direction of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ingo Froböse. Here she was involved in a cooperation project with the Federal Center for Health Education, as part of which an everyday training program for senior citizens was developed and evaluated.
Annalena Dunkel has been working as a research assistant at the University of Cologne since 2018. Initially, she was employed at the Chair of Rehabilitation Gerontology. Since 2019 she has been a PhD student at the NRW Research College GROW.
